Storm 7/4-5 - 1876

The Des Moines papers report a hugh storm hit the Midwest the night of July 4th and the morning of July 5th 876. These reports indicate massive damage and a huge lost of life from Mo. to Dubuque.

Fifteen year old Geo Murray was driving a team from Chariton to the family home in Warren Twp., just outside of Derby and was drowned. He is buried in the Murray Family Plot in the Chariton.

I seek Lucas County reports of the strom and if possible Geo, Murray's obit.
