HOWELL, Matthew and Jane Watkins - came from England with a large family and lived in Lucas County, Iowa from 1868-1870. Matthew died June 11, 1870 age 50 yrs. and is buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Liberty Township. Two of the sons were named Matthew Jr. and John Howell and there were daughters Mary Jane, Elizabeth, Ann, and Racheal. Three of these children married in Wapello County. After Matthew Sr. died, Jane and family settled in York Co., NE and she remarried a Benjamin Green. There may have been a Phillip Watkins related living in Wapello County.
