Ezekiel Hale is shown in the 1880 Census of Lucas County, and Peter Hale, perhaps his brother, moved from Lucas to Mills County in 1877. Does anyone have any knowledge of this family? They also lived in Mahaska County, and before that, Jefferson County. Other names in the census records with them are Benjamin and John Hale. I am trying to find out if Peter's wife Elizabeth was a Shoemake. Enoch Shoemake married Mary Hale Gearheart in Mahaska County around 1848 and Benjamin Hale was on the marriage certificate.
