John was born in King City, MO and moved to Lucas County when 3 1/2 years old. His parents were Laura May Marshall & Oliver Franklin Jacobs. He also had a sister Mary Louise (Jacobs) Armstrong who died before him. (Aug 1959) John died April 16, 1992. Married Jean Isabel Oyler June 30, 1955. He was a very good skater and did deliver papers. He was very well known around Chariton. He didn't drive and always rode a bike.

Laura May (Marshall) Jacobs dau of John William & Rachel Marshall b:Mar 22, 1882 and d: Jan 8, 1971. Buried in Russell cem. She had 3 sons from her former marriage but it doesn't list their names and one dau, Mrs. Helen Hall of Des Moines. And from her second marriage 2 sons & 1 dau.

On her birth listing in Lucas Co. See below:

John Marshall Ill 36 tramp
Rachel Siggull Ill 36
