Clair Willard Sellers was born February 02, 1913 in Lucas County to John Mark and Maude Emaline (Wright) Sellers, and passed away September 12, 1989, at the Chariton Manor.

He was united in marriage to Mildred Ruth Talbott February 26, 1938 by the bride's father, the Rev. G.M. Talbott of Moville.

To this union were born four sons, Verle Eldon, Allen Leroy, Don Richard and Edward Clair.

He farmed in the Russell and Moravia areas until 1950, when he moved back to Russell and worked as a carpenter and businessman until retiring in 1978. He was one of the last carpenters in the area who could build a complete home from the foundation up.

After retiring, he worked for a few years at the Chariton Senior Center, also served as a supervisor, and aided in the building of the Community Center in Russell.

He was active in Boy Scouting for a number of years, serving as a Scout Master and on the Scout Council. He was also active in the community and served on the City Council for a number of years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Russell.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing, horse shoes, and playing cards with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Verle Eldon; two brothers, Keith and Richard: and one grandchild, Lloyd Sellers.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the Chariton Manor; three sons, Allen (Elizabeth) of Lincoln, NE., Don (Virginia) of Post Falls, ID, and Edward (Sandra) of Russell; two sisters, Helen Hull, and Shirley McDonald, both of Chariton; six gradchildren and one great-grandchild.

He will be missed by his family and many, many friends.
