Bernice Hannah (Foster) Victor

Bernice Hannah (Foster) Victor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Foster, was born at Belinda, Lucas, IA, August 14, 1881 and passed away at the Riggs Nursing Home August 8, 1970, at the age of 88 yrs., 11 mo., 24 days. She had resided at the nursing home for the past few years, the last 18 months being confined to her bed with a broken hip.

She grew to womanhood around Chariton, and on March 23, 1902, she was united in marriage to Harlan Victor. After their marriage they lived in Newbern for two years, then went to Alden, KS., where they were engaged in farming for 22 years. While there Bernice received Christian Baptism on January 25, 1914 and she attended church as long as she was physically able. They returned to Williamson where Harlan managed a filling station, later moving to Newbern where he also operated a filling station until his death February 2, 1950. Bernice then moved to Chariton, where she resided till her death. There were no children.

She is survived by three sisters, Alma Threlkeld of Bellingham, WA., Dr. Ila Hefner of Wray, CO., and Iva Hefner of Wichita, KS., one brother, Leslie Foster and wife of Mt. Pleasant, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Thurston Foster of Chariton. A number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were conducted at Miley Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Hook officiating.

Interment was in the Newbern Cemetery.
