Earl Douglas ALLEN, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton H. ALLEN, was born at La Grange in Lucas county, Iowa, on December 13, 1876, and died September 6, 1945, at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 23 days.
On April 11, 1900, he was united in holy marriage to Laura KNOWLES at Melrose, Ia. To this union four daughters were born: Mrs. Keith BOWN, of Chariton; Mrs. Max NOBLE, of Chicago, Ill: Mrs. Calvert HOOPER, of Burbank, Calif; and Mrs. Lloyd VINSON, who preceded him in death October 4, 1938.
Mr. ALLEN early affiliated himself with the Presbyterian church. He was a kind and thoughtful husband and father and endeared himself to his many friends through deeds of love and kindness. As a life-long resident of Lucas county his contribution was great.
The deceased leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife and three daughters: Mrs. Keith BOWN, Mrs. Max NOBLE and Mrs. Calvert HOOPER, all of whom were able to be in attendance at the last rites; his brothers: Will ALLEN, of San Diego, Calif, and John H. ALLEN, of Chariton, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. May ZIMMERMAN, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Mrs. J.C. CASSITY of Russell, Ia.: also six grandchildren and a host of friends. His brothers Arthur and Charles, preceded him in death.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Bonte F.GRUSSING, of the First Presbyterian church, were held at the Beardsley funeral home, and burial was in the Russell cemetary.
