Obituary from Chariton Patriot 2/18/26
Neil C Anderson

Neil Christian Anderson was born in Ulberg, Denmark, February 5, 1834, and passed away at his home near Chariton, IA, February 9th, 1926, at the age of 92 years and four days.In the year of 1871 he was united in marriage to Sarah Thompson. To this union was born one son, Edward S. of Chariton, IA.In the year of 1872, Mrs. Anderson passed away.
In 1874 Mr. Anderson was united in marriage to Emma Peterson and to this union was born two sons and one daughter, John F and Charles C, and Mrs. Ellen Willits, who died in 1917.
His wife and three sons and seven grandchildren remain to mourn his departure. Mr. Anderson was an affectionate husband and father, an honest and upright Christian citizen. He was converted in early life and was a member of the Otterbein United Brethren church, where he loved to attend services until his Lord said “come up higher”. He was ready for the summons and had asked Rev. Cornford to conduct his funeral services when he passed away, while he was his pastor several years ago.
Thus, the great transaction is done, “I am the Lord’s, and he is mine. He drew me and I followed on, charmed to obey the voice divine.”
Funeral services were held at the Otterbein church on Thursday afternoon at two o’clock, with rev. Cornford in charge, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery
