The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, May 28, 1908

MARGARET LUCILLE THROCKMORTON was born Sept. 5, 1891, being 16 years, 8
months and 15 days old at her death. She was born near Derby, where she has
lived and grown up to young womanhood. She attended the Derby school and
was in the 8th grade, giving promise of acquiring an education sufficient to
teach in the public schools. This was a comfort to her parents, and an
incentive for them to do all they could to encourage this aspiration that it
might become a reality.

Deceased was injured by a run-away team, sustaining such injury that it
caused brain fever, and was delirious most of the time after being confined
to her bed. Everything possible that could tend to her comfort, was done
for her, but all that loving hands and sorrowing hearts could do was in vain
to stop that grim monster. Death released her suffering body at about noon
May 20, 1908.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Armstrong at the M.E. Church
from whence the remains were taken to the Derby Cemetery. The text of the
sermon was: Ps. 90:9, "For all our days are passed in thy wrath; we spend
our days as a tale that is told." Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the
sorrowing relatives and friends.
