The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, February 13, 1908

MRS. JAMES CARNAHAN died very suddenly Saturday morning, at 4:30 o'clock, at
her home in this city, with heart trouble. She had not been in the best of
health for several months, but was as well as usual, and her death comes as
a shock to the family and friends. LUCY VAN LOON was born in Michigan, Aug.
25, 1837, and came to Iowa in 1865. She was married to JAMES CARNAHAN Dec.
24, 1862.

She united with the United Presbyterian Church, eight years ago, and has
since lived a conscientious Christian life. She leaves a husband and one
daughter, JENNIE ANDERSON, to mourn the loss of a companion and mother.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M.G. Munn, at the United
Presbyterian Church, Monday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, and the remains
interred in the Chariton Cemetery.
