JOSEPH WARDLAW, an old and highly respected citizen died at his home in this
city, at 12:30 o'clock, Monday morning, January 27, 1908.

The deceased, who was of Scotch ancestry, was born in Donegal, Ireland,
October 30, 1830. There he lived until about 1847, when with his parents he
removed to Stephens County, Illinois, where they lived on a farm in Rock Run
Township. Here he lived till manhood.

After his marriage there to MISS SARAH NELSON, they removed to Lamar,
Missouri, where they lived a few years, afterwards coming to Lucas County,
which has been their home since. First, on the farm nine miles northeast of
here, and for the last six years in Chariton.

A number of years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he had
never fully recovered.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, one son, ALBERT, of Omaha; and three
daughters, MRS. JOHN WEBB, of this city; AGNES, at home; ELEANOR, of Dakota,
Illinois. A son and daughter preceded him to that better country, about
nine years ago.

The funeral was held from the family home on Friday. Services were
conducted by Rev. Munn, Pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, and
interment was made in Zion Cemetery in Pleasant Township.
