The many friends in Russell were grieved to learn of the death of MRS.
HARRIETT BARNES SIMS, which occurred at her home southeast of town, January
25, 1908, at the age of 32 years, 2 months and 27 days. Funeral services
were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Church, conducted by Rev. D.
Degafercilly of Des Moines, after which interment took place in the Russell
Cemetery.

MISS HARRIETT BARNES was born near Russell, Nov. 28, 1875. She was united
in marriage to G.W. SIMS Oct. 26, 1904. She leaves four children, together
with a husband, who mourn the loss of a faithful mother and wife. Also
three sisters, Mesdames CLARIETA THOMAS, MARY SIMS and REBECCA SIMS, all of
Russell. She was a member of the Christian Church of Russell and lived a
faithful Christian life. The sorrowing ones have the sympathy of the entire
community in their great grief.
