Thursday, February 27, 1908

MARY BISHOP was born near Hebron, Licking County, Ohio, Feb. 3, 1837, and
died Feb. 23, 1908, age 71 years and 20 days. She with her twin brother
WILLIAM, were eldest of the six children of LEMUEL and KATHRINE BISHOP.

After the death of her mother she made her home with the family of MRS.
LYDIA STEWART and came with them to Chariton in May, 1864. On March 31,
1874, she was married to JOHN ROBERTSON who departed this life April 11,
1902. To this union were born four children: EVA M., AMANDA M., of this
city; WILL B., of Macksville, Kans.; and THOMAS R., of Estelle, W. Va.; all
of whom were with her during her last hours.

In 1889, under the preaching of Rev. A. Pierson, she united with the
Christian Church at Oakley, and has lived a consistent Christian life. Two
years ago she moved to Chariton, Iowa. During which time she has been a
constant sufferer from dropsy but has been patient through it all and
expressed her willingness to die. The funeral services were held at the
family residence in the west part of Chariton, conducted by C.E. Wells,
Pastor of the Christian Church, on Monday, 2 p.m., Feb. 24th, and the body
was laid to rest in the family plot in Chariton Cemetery.
