RUTH A. KANABLE was born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, July 28, 1825 and
died at her home in Chariton, March 17, 1908, after an illness of only a few
weeks with ailments due to the infirmities of old age.

She was united in marriage to DANIEL HOUSEHOLDER, March 23, 1845, and had
she lived until Monday would have celebrated her sixty-third wedding
anniversary. They came to Illinois in 1854, locating in Knox County, where
they resided until 1875, when they removed to Chariton, which place has
since been their home. To them were born 10 children, five sons and five
daughters, all of whom are living except the youngest son, CHARLEY, whose
death occurred April 30, 1892. Those residing in Chariton are WILEY M. and
AUGUSTA, others residing in Illinois, Nebraska, Colorado, and California.
There are also fifty-two grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.

She was a devoted wife and mother, always thoughtful of all about her,
administering to those in sickness or want. She was converted in early life
and united with the Baptist Church. Being no church of that denomination
near them in Illinois, she affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church,
of which she was a faithful member until her death, dying as she had lived
in the faith of an Eternal home in Heaven. She was a regular attendant at
church services as long as her health would permit, and had at various times
served in the capacity of Sunday school teacher, class leader and steward.
She was a true Christian in word and deed, and has gone to receive her
reward.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock
conducted by Rev. Evans, Pastor of the church, and interment made in
Chariton Cemetery. Beside her husband and children she leaves a large
circle of friends to mourn her departure.
