The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, October 3, 1907

JENNIE MABEL BOWDEL was born February 3, 1875, four miles south of
Washington, Guernsey County, Ohio, and passed from her home, north of Derby,
to her home with the Lord, September 28, 1907. Her age was 32 years, 7
months and 28 days. She was married at her parents' home, in Derby, to
PEARL M. SUTTON, February 26, (?) by Rev. J.E. Matheney. Two children, a
little boy of two years, and an infant daughter have preceded her to the
better world.

She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, at (?) Amity appointment
during the pastorate of W.L. Douglas, in 1888. She gave her heart to the
Savior at the time when God has most blessedly commanded; the days of youth.
She was one of the first workers in the Epworth League, organist for two
more years for the church, and left behind her a heritage of Christian
devotion, that is comforting to think of by her loved ones. Her husband,
(?) boys, and two daughters, with other near and dear ones, are left to
mourn her departure. Though loving hands and medical skill did all that
possibly could be done, she heard the voice of her Savior, calling, "Well,
done, enter thou into the joy of the Lord." It is very sad, but our
Heavenly Father knoweth best.
