Elmer Munson
Elmer Munson, son of August and Alice Munson was born in Chariton, Iowa, March 13, 1902 and passed away in the Veterans hospital in Des Moines on December 12, 1965. He was 63 years, 8 months and 20 days of age.

He was educated in the Chariton Schools. He served 3 years in the United States Navy as a young man. Then he lived and worked in Chicago for several years. During WWII he again enlisted and served with the Navy during the invasion of Europe, returning from the service in November 1945.

He was employed with the Burlington Railroad since then, until his health failed in May of this year,

Elmer was preceded in death by his father, mother and his only brother Ray. He is survived by 2 nephews, Raymond L Munson of Des Moines, and Paul D Munson of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

As a young boy he united with the Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday December14, 1965 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral home. The rev. Paul C Ellis officiated at the service. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
