*Posted in another column of the same date:A very unpleasant circumstance happened, Tuesday, in connection with the
funeral of THOMAS DAWSON. The funeral was to have occurred in the afternoon
but there was an abrasion on the dead man's face and some member of the
family concluded that he had been the victim of foul play, and that the
deceased had come to his death by other than fair means. This meant
postponement and a slight local sensation. Conference was held by telephone
with the authorities of the Soldier's Home at Marshalltown, and the
suspicion was entirely set aside. Thus the funeral was held on Wednesday
instead of Tuesday.
