The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, March 14, 1907

ELIZA FLETCHER was born in Lancaster, England, Sept. 15, 1832, where she
grew to womanhood, and was married to DR. THOMAS CROSTON. To this union
were born five children, two sons EARNEST, of Ashland, Oregon and DR. GEORGE
and daughter ELLEN, of Lucas, two little boys having died in England. They
came to this country in 1880, and located at Lucas where they have since
resided.

She was taken sick with pneumonia on Wednesday, while attending the bedside
of a friend Mrs. Barker at Hiteman, and was removed to her home on Thursday,
but she steadily grew worse until death relieved her on Tuesday evening.
She united with the Baptist Church when young and has lived a true Christian
life. Her whole aim was to live for others, always lending a helping hand
to those in distress and she will be sadly missed by the community in which
she lived so long. Besides her husband and children, she leaves two sisters
and one brother in England, a brother in New Zealand, and a sister, MRS.
ELLEN YOUNG, of Wyoming, the latter being with her during her illness and
death.
