Thursday, October 23, 1913SARAH J. LUSK
The wife of W. B. E. Lusk, for many years a resident of Chariton, died at her home on Roland avenue, Wednesday evening, October 15th, 1913, at the age of seventy-seven years.
Sarah J. Lusk was born October 15th, 1836, in Rush county, Indiana. At the age of four years she came to Des Moines county, Iowa, with her parents, where she grew to womanhood, and where she, on March 8th, 1860, was united in marriage to W. B. E. Lusk., who survives her.
To this union two children were born, a daughter and son, Lizzie and Charles. Lizzie preceded her mother in death on September 22nd, 1875, at the age of fourteen years. Her son, Charles Lusk, of Quincy, Ill., was present at his mother's funeral.
She united with the Baptist church in 1858 in Des Moines county and after moving to Chariton became a member of the church in Chariton. Ill health for a great many years prevented her from being an active member, being unable to leave her home for the past several years.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Bryce, were held at the Baptist church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Besides her husband and son she leaves to mourn her loss two brothers and one sister, who were unable to be present at the last sad rites.
Mrs. Lusk was a woman possessing many noble qualities and she was held in high esteem by all who knew her. A large circle of sorrowing friends will extend sympathy to the surviving relatives.
