Lucy Cleveland Stubbs, daughter of George and Mary Cleveland, was born April 1, 1855 in Dane County, Wisconsin, and went to receive her sainted crown from her God May 4, 1925. She moved with her parents to Allamakee County, Iowa when about 9 years of age and spent the balance of her 61 years in Iowa, being 70 years, 1 month and 3 days old at death. She united with the Christian Church at Pleasantville, Marion County, Iowa in 1889. Deceased was a kind and loving mother and neighbor. She was united in marriage to Nathaniel N. Stubbs on March 25, 1875. To this union was born eleven children, 7 boys and 4 girls as follows; Adrian D., of Van Wert, Iowa; Alfred D., of Allerton, Iowa; Pearl C., of Harrison, Ark.; Theodore P., of Ell, Neb.; Mrs Wattie I. Warrick, Silva, Mo.; Dell M. Stubbs of Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. Annie M. Katzenberger of Lineville, Iowa; Mrs. Winnifred Wright, Osceola, Ia.; Niney I. Stubbs of Woodburn, Iowa; Mrs. Zylpha Goodrich, Allerton, Ia.; Walter C. of Lineville, Iowa.
Mother leaves to mourn their loss besides her children, 77 grand children (line unreadable), 5 sisters and 2 brothers and a host of neighbors and friends. Every thing was done to ease her last sickness but Jobe says the day of man's death is more joy than the day of his birth, so God knows best in all things. His will be done.
Mother dear, its hard to loose you,
but our loss is your gain we know,
and we hope some day to greet you,
on that happy and golden shore.Funeral services were conducted by Rev M. .S Clark from the Last Chance church May 6, and Interment was made in Last Chance cemetery.
