August 15, 2000CHARITON, Iowa -- Services for Maurice E. Curran, Chariton, will be 1 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Melrose. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Melrose.
Mr. Curran died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Lucas County Health Care Center, Chariton. Fielding Funeral Home, Chariton, is in charge of arrangements.
He farmed in the Russell and Lucas County areas. In 1945, he built, along with his brother, C.D. Curran, the Russell Sale Barn in Russell and worked in the business until retiring.
Survivors include daughters, Diana Wolf, Rock Island, Mary Emerson, Moline, Rita Stanforth, Davenport, and Lucy Smith, Ormond Beach, Fla.; sons, Jim, Chariton, and Gene, Russell; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte McCarty-Lahart, Albia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Kelleher Curran, in 1995.
