HarrlngtonRobert (Bob) Harrington was born to Lester Lee and Olive Sandy Harrington on June 15, 1923, at the Harrington Farm near Harvey, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Charlene Brubaker September 27, 1941 in Unionville, Mo. To this union was born two daughters, Dannice Dickey of Chariton and Diana Smith of St. Louis, Mo. Bob passed away suddenly September 24, 1983, at the age of 60 years, three months, one week and two days.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 28, 1983, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fielding Funeral Home In Chariton with interment at the Chartiton Cemetery. Masonic Rites were given and Rev. Sara Speer officiated at the services.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and a great niece.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene; mother, Olive; both daughters, Dannice and Diana, his son-in-law, Dan Smith; five grandchildren; two brothers, Lee E. of Chariton and Hubert J. of Chesterfield, Mo.; one sister, Marie Rodgers of Knoxville; 13 nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews.
He was confirmed and baptized at the Plymouth Presbyterian Church east of Knoxville on July 17, 1941.
After marriage, Bob and Charlene [armed in Lucas County until 1953. At tìme they moved to Des Moines where he began his education in refrigeration which has been his professional career since then. He was employed by Hy-Vee Foods, Inc. for 20 years and has been self-employed the past 6½ years.
He was very active in the community and was a member of the Knights of Pythias Masonic Lodge #63, Za Ga Zig Shrine, Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, Local of Pipefitters Union and for the past two years he has enjoyed his involvement with the Lucas Co. Sheriffs Possee to the utmost.
