Ida V. Adcock, age 92 died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Legacy House in Chariton, Iowa.

Ida Vanelliea Labalette was born May 8, 1920 in Ward, Iowa to Leon and Paula (Cnudde) Labalette.

She was raised in Tipperary, Iowa and other coal mining camps.

She married Byron Elmer Adcock.

They lived in Chariton, Indianola, Marshalltown and Covina, California.

Ida and Byron owned and operated the Country Chef in Chariton, Maid-Rite in Indianola, Flamingo Hotel in Marshalltown, a knitting shop (in the back room of Hellyer Jewelry where she taught knitting and sold supplies), before retiring from the Contel Telephone Company as the Assistant Chief Operator.

Ida was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chariton, and Past Matron of Eastern Star with membership since 1944.

She enjoyed playing softball as a young lady, golfing, knitting, quilting, playing cards, and baking.

Ida was an active volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Byron, and son Richard.

Survivors include; one son Gerald (Jerry) Adcock of Chariton, Iowa, 3 grandchildren; Richard G. (Melanie) Adcock of Sioux Falls, SD, Julie Ida (Tom) Bagley of Newman Grove, NE, Vincent (Missy) Poush of Chariton, Iowa, and 6 great grandchildren; Emily, Bridget, and Ethan (Rich), Dylan (Julie), and Tanner and Blake (Vince). ~ The Fielding Funeral Home, Chariton, Iowa 6 Mar 2013.
