Latin V.B. Wood was born Jan. 10, 1846, in Ulster county, N.Y. At the age of three years he removed with his parents to Duchess county in the same state. Was graduated from Eastman Business College in 1865. He removed to Iowa in 1875 and died in Chariton, October 5, 1887. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Augbey. He leaves a widow and two children, a son and a daughter, to mourn his loss.

And flower to wither at the north wind's breath,
And stars to set - but all,
Thou has all seasons for thine own? O, Death!"
