OBITUARY - Fred J. Farrell -
Chariton Leader July 21, 1953

Fred J. Farrell was born at Woodburn, Iowa, July 23, 1892, and departed this life Sunday, July 12, at his home in Lincoln township.

In 1897, with his parents, he moved to Chariton where he has resided since.

He served in World War I in the Field Artillery and spent several months overseas. In 1922 he was united in marriage to Esther Lutz of Chariton. To this union were born 11 children all of whom survive. They are Gerald of Lacona; Mrs. Mary Colbert of Melcher; Robert of Owatonna, Minn.; Richard of Pittsburgh, Pa; Mrs. Brabara Agan of Ottumwa; Edward of Chariton; Donald of Camp Crowder, Missouri; Johnetta, Carl, Joe and Charlie all at home.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two sisters; Mrs. Clara Ashton of Kansas City, Mrs. Emma Garrison of Chariton and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was always a devoted father and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart church at 9:00 a.m. July 15, conducted by the Rev. Charles O'Connor, pastor, with burial in Calvary cemetery.

The Rosary was recited at the Beardsley funeral home on Tuesday evening. Pallbearers were Bill Cisky, Leo Kelley, Tom McCann, Lawrence Steinbach, John Cusack and James Steinbach.
