Verdis Arlene Stout, daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Haltom) Anderson was born March 23, 1919 in Lacona, IA and passed away March 4, 1993 at the Lucas County Health Center at the age of 73 years.

Arlene was united in marriage to Raymond A. Stout on January 4, 1941. To this union four daughters and one son were born, Judy, Sharol, Zelda, Dianna and Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, one grandson, Kevin Stout, her parents, three brothers, Virgil, Verl and Leonil Anderson, and two sisters, Vera Godlove and Leona Anderson.

Arlene was a life-long resident of the Chariton area. She enjoyed family gatherings and time spent with her children, grandchildren and meeting her great-grandchildren.

Arlene spend many enjoyable hours helping friends and doing for others. She was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene. A great joy to her was the time spent with the children in the nursery. God's love and her prayers were a great comfort to her throughout her life and especially important during her illness. She had been a resident of the Chariton Manor for the past two and a half years.

Survivors include daughters Judy (Edward Schreck of Rogers, AR; Sharol (John) Schoondyke of Des Moines; Zelda (Dennis) Boldt of Russell and Dianna Stout of Chariton; her son Wayne (Rene) Stout of Des Moines; three grandsons, Michael Schreck of Ames, Jeff Schreck of Ames, and Brian Schreck of Las Vegas, NV; two granddaughters, Teresa (Schreck)and husband (Martin) Clausen of Kansas, and Kimberly Boldt of Russell.

Also surviving are two foster granddaughters, Tina Vopava and Shelley Payne of Des Moines; two great-granddaughters, Kristin and Erica Clausen; three foster great-grandchildren; four sisters, Wanda Moss and Ferne Masters of Chariton, Ann Davis and Louise Hoskins of Colorado; one brother, Kenneth Anderson of Chariton, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 8, 1993 at the Fielding Funeral Home with Rev. Leray Glendenning conducting.

Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery. Serving as bearers were Rodney Masters, Lanny Masters, Richard Stout, Dean Anderson, Danny Masters and Robert Anderson.
