Clifford Leon Jones

Clifford Leon Jones of Route 3, Excelsior Springs, died Friday at Excelsior Springs City Hospital. He was 66.

He was a nursing assistant and physical therapist at the former Veterans hospital in Excelsior Springs and more recently at the veterans hospital in Kansas City before retiring in 1979. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Born in 1919 in Tipperary, Iowa to Chester Jones and Jessie May Malcomson, he had lived in Excelsior Springs since 1935.

In 1944 he married Elizabeth Collett, who survives of the home.

He also leaves a son, Robert L. Jones of Vibbard; a daughter, Mary Louise Pierson of Lawson; a mother, Jessie May Potter of Excelsior Springs; a brother, William Jones of Excelsior Springs; and a sister, Eva McGuire of Michigan.

Services were held earlier today at the church, with the Rev. Jerry Daily officiating and the Rev. Philip Johnson assisting; burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Sally Dixon served as organist and Nancy Elmore as soloist. Pallbearers were Clyde Crave, Henry Schwartz, Nilmarth Brown, Dick Hyder, Lloyd Cates and Delbert Todd. Newspaper unknown
