Eugene C. Wheeler

Eugene G. Wheeler, for many years a resident of Chariton, died Monday, August 13, at the Yocom hospital, where he had been a patient for two days, suffering with kidney trouble.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Harry Secor, of the First Baptist church, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, and burial took place in the Chariton cemetery.

Eugene G. Wheeler, son of Peter G. & Catherine A. Wheeler, was born in Sacramento, Minnesota, on March 14, 1860, and at the time of his death his age was 74 years and 6 months. He was married in Chariton, Iowa, on November 19, 1881, to Sarah G. Fisher, who died several years ago. To this union six children were born, two of whom, a son, Frank L., and a daughter, Lula E., preceded him in death. Those surviving are Charles C. Wheeler, William E. Wheeler and Mrs. Alta E. Plows, all of Chariton, and Earl E. Wheeler, of Des Moines. Fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Foley, of Texas, and Mrs. Mary Radel, of Montana, are also living.
