Bernice Victoria Scadden was born April 6, 1900 in Woodburn, the first born daughter of William James and Etta Lamb James and passed away Jan 2, 1991, at Osceola Leisure Manor in Osceola, at the age of 90 years.

She attended the Woodburn Schools and was united in marriage to Arthur Taylor Sharp in 1919. She was mother to nine children, two of whom died in infancy. She was divorced from Arthur Sharp in 1950 and later married Lynn Scadden in 1970.

Mrs. Scadden lived in the Chariton area until she moved to Osceola Leisure Manor in Osceola in 1977. She had been a member of the Assembly of God Church in Chariton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lynn Scadden in 1974, daughter; Esther Bundy, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Spoon and husband William of Osceola; daughter Lucy Bundy of Galesburg, Ill.; son, Henry Sharp and wife Opal of Lucas; son, Carl Sharp and wife Georgia of Billings, Mont.; daughter Betty Marks and husband Harold of Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Walter Sharp and wife Barbara of Urbandale; 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; a brother, Floyd James of Des Moines; a sister, Maxine Blyth of Mt. Pleasant, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Pastor Dale Bean of Osceola officiating. Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Last Chance Cemetery in Lucas County.
