Richard McMulin writes from Sumner, Kan., under date of Dec. 25th, saying
that "ELI MURPHIN, an old citizen of English Township, started to Sumner
County, Kansas, was taken sick on the road, stopped at St. Joe, Mo., for
treatment, got no better, came here Oct. 15th, very sick, was met by his
family who came by team next day. He partially recovered, but on the 17th
ult., he took a relapse, and died on the 24th, after a week of the most
intense suffering. He was 71 years of age and had lived in English Tp. 16
years."
