Thursday, January 20, 1875

DIED. -- of lung fever, Jan. 8th, at the residence of J.H. McGinnis, in
Warren Township, MR. JOHN McCASSON, aged nearly 61 years.

He came from Ireland to this country when eleven years of age, and moved
from Ohio to this county five years since. It is a singular fact that
although one of a numerous family, he was the last to bear the name, and by
his death the family name became extinct. I was informed that he was for
some years a member of the Lutheran Church, and among his last words he
remarked, "I wish I was over Jordon."

Funeral services, Sunday the 10th by the writer.
