The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, August 22, 1907

Lucas County's Normal is in session this week at the High School Building
and is presided over by County Superintendent, MRS. LAURA M. GOW. The first
day's enrollment was 101 -- almost a full enrollment the first day. This is
MRS. GOW's first normal and it is proving quite successful. The list of
instructors is:

Prof. C.P. Colegrove, Cedar Falls, Didactics and History; Supt. W.H.
Clifford, Council Bluffs, Geography and Physiology; Supt. C.J. Johnson,
Chariton, Arithmetic and Orthography; Prof. W.B. Downing, Des Moines, Music;
Miss Minnie Rozelle, Des Moines, Primary Methods and Nature Study; Miss Emma
Moulton, Des Moines, English Reading. Prof. Colgrove lectured on Monday
evening, Prof. Clifford, on Tuesday evening and Miss Moulton on Wednesday
evening -- or in the afternoon rather -- at the close of exercises.
