THORNDIKE, TOWNSEND, SMITH

I am searching for information of my Great-Great Grandmother's family. She was born in Louisa County, IA(Wapello) as Myrtle Townsend. She was the wife of Amer Leroy Smith. She was(as family legend has it) the daughter of Samuel Townsend and Phoebe Thorndyke(sp?) I saw a Phebe Thorndike listed in a census, which might be her. Family legend from a cousin of hers(Marie Crow Bretz) says that there was a "Townsend addition" to the town of Wapelo(I believe Samuel Townsend was a cooper). I know my Great Great Grandmother died at the age of 99 in 1977 and was buried in Wapello according to her last wishes.

The rest of the info I have is that there was an "Uncle Bert" (or Burt) whom, I believe was her brother; a sister "May" or"Mae" who was an invalid(someone once told me that her name might have been Caroline May or Carrie Mae)

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
