Silas Bryant was born April 30th, 1842, in Fayette county, Ohio, and died at Wapello, Iowa, December 14th, 1910 being 63 years, 7 months and 15 days old at the time of his death. He was the son of Jesse and Mary Hamilton Bryant and came with his parents to Iowa when he was seven years of age, where he has resided continuously since. For five years he had been a silent sufferer and for two years past was compelled to give up the active duties of life.

About a year ago he united with the Christian church of this city and has lived a consistent life. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, who resides in Wapello, two sons, Allen and James, who reside in Muscatine, Iowa; also two brothers and two sisters, Ethan Bryant, of Gold Kansas; Wm Bryant, of Morning Sun, Iowa; Mary Myers, of Golf, Kansas and Sarah Fisher, of Wapello, Iowa. The funeral services were held at he home Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. A. Hunt assisted by Rev. J. E. Newsom. Interment in the Wapello cemetery.
