Page 1Mrs. Elizabeth Cleaver was born in Columbiana county, near Clarkson, Ohio, Sept. 26, 1826 and died at Toolesboro, Louisa county, Iowa, December 13, 1909. She grew to womanhood at the home of her birth and was married there at the age of twenty-two. to S. B. Cleaver. They made their new home at Centerville, Washington county, Pennsylvania, from whence they moved to Wapello, Iowa, in 1853. To them were born eight children, four of whom are dead: Mrs. Adda Thompson, Miss Lou V. Cleaver and Charlie and Ella, both of whom passed away in infancy. Those living are Mrs. E. A. Mallory, of Green Castle,Mo.; Mrs. C. L. Mosier, of Toolesboro, Iowa; J. H. Cleaver, of Pensacola, Florida; C. H. Cleaver, of Marshalltown, Iowa. All of her father's family preceded her in death except one sister, Mrs. Sarah W. Vale, who resides at Washington D. C.
Her husband passes about six years ago in these last six years she was making her home with her children. She was a member of the Methodist church in Wapello having united with the church a number of years ago. As a woman she had the esteem of all who knew her. She had been an invalid for a number of years, having suffered a slight stroke of paralysis followed by the infirmities of old age. The funeral services were conducted at the home where she died, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by her pastor Rev. J. E.Newsom, of Wapello. Interment took place in the family lot in the Wapello cemetery.
