Page 1Sadie Hummel was born in Louisa county, August 5, 1862 and died in Grandview after a lingering illness of nine months, at 2 o'clock Sunday morning, Oct. 17th, 1909, aged 47 years, 2 months and 12 days. She was married to Wm. Walker, Jan 1, 1908. She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband, four brothers and one sister: R. T. Hummel of Muscatine county, George Hummel of Red Cloud, Neb., Fred of Hot Springs, S. D., Louis of Thurman, Ia., Mrs. Mary Pierce of Red Cloud, Neb., and a half-brother, Will, of Davenport.
In early womanhood she united with the Methodist church and has lived an earnest christian life. It may be truly said of the deceased that she lived an exemplary life full of christian kindness and good deeds. Her lingering illness was marked by the christian traits and fortitude which predominated her life. The funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 18, from the Methodist church at Grandview by the pastor, Rev. A. H. Barker.
