Page 1Arthur Willard Ives was born September 6, 1876, at Wapello, Iowa and died July 28, 1909, at Chicago, Illinois, aged 32 years, 10 months and 22 days. He was the son of Oliver and Floretta Ives of Wapello and was the eldest of a family of nine children, only on of whom, a brother, died in infancy. The living are Mrs. Gertrude Jackson of Wapello, Mrs. Rhoda Christopherson of Fort Dodge, William of Wapello, Mrs. Ada Mongerson of Muscatine and Jettie, Jesse and Drusilia at home.
Growing to manhood in Wapello, he attended public schools, he was a good student and mastered most of the course. Sturdy in character, he was a young man of good habits and bore a good name among his companions and in the community. He was industrious, nobly employing his time in the interest of himself and his home. One thing that he did especially well was lathing. About eight years ago his skill in this line of world drew him to Chicago, where he has made his home.
His parents and relatives here, not knowing he was ill, were surprised on Wednesday, July 28, to receive telephone communications from one of the hospitals in Chicago of his death there.
Arrangements were immediately made to being the body to Wapello for burial. The funeral services were conducted from the home at 10 o'clock last Friday morning by Rev. J. E. Newsom. Interment in Wapello cemetery.
