G.W. Hill, a well to do and highly respected citizen of Elm Grove township, passed away at his home last Thursday. Mr. Hill had not been in good health for some time but had been confined to his bed but a few days. George W. Hill was born in Perry county, Ohio, April 3, 1851. His parents were Adam and Martha Hill. When a boy he came with his parents to Iowa, where he was raised on a farm and received his education in the county schools and the Grandview academy.

He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Fannie Bernis, to whom he was married October 10, 1876. This union was blessed by two daughters, Ethel, who died a few years ago, and Fannie, who is married and lived in North Dakota, but who was here to attend her father's funeral. The second wife was Mrs. Bemis, whose maiden name was Alice M. Wells. To this union five children were born and with the mother are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. These are Edith, who is now Mrs. Bishua, May, Howard, Marsh and Ruth. The funeral was held Saturday from the Prairie chapel. Burial at Spring Run cemetery.
