Father Lorenz is dead. He had been failing for several years, but was able to be around and do his chores. He was up as usual Tuesday morning. He ate his dinner and went out in the yard a few moments; coming in he sat down. He remarked about the beauty of the day and with those words went out into His presence where there is plenteous peace. August William Lorenz was born at Tempelburg, Pommern, Germany, on Jan. 16th, 1829 and was about 76 years of age.

He served for a time in the regular army of Great Britain, after leaving the Fatherland, coming to America in 1855. He was married to Margaret Bojrens, in Baltimore, Md in 1859. To them were born six children, only two surviving, Henry and Julius, who grew up in Wapello and are now living in Chicago, and a step daughter, Mrs. Minnie Gregory, of Pulaski, Davis, County, Iowa. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. J. P. Hehner at the Ger. M. E. church at 1:30 p. m. today, assisted by the I. O. O. F. Interment in the Wapello cemetery.
