Mrs. J. J. Russell, of Columbus Junction, passed away Monday night, February 13, at about 11 o'clock, after an illness of three weeks of the grip and complications. She leaves her husband and five children, two sons and three daughters, to mourn her demise. The children are: Mrs. Florence Wilcox, of Columbus Junction, George W., of Kansas City, Mrs. Lillie M. Thompson, of Burlington, Mrs. Daisy O'Conner of Columbus Junction, and Harrison E., of Burlington. These were all with her during her last illness, except the son, George, who arrived Tuesday morning too late to see his mother alive.

Mrs. Russell's maiden name was White and she was born in Indiana, November 6, 1837 and was married to John J. Russell at Liberty in that state, November 13, 1858. They removed to Iowa in May, 1865, living first at Old Clifton, going from there to Columbus Junction in 1874, and that place has since been her home. The funeral was held from the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. C. Kendrick.
