The funeral of Henry Freeman was held from his late home in Columbus Junction Monday morning conducted by Rev. J. R. Vance of the Presbyterian church. Many friends and neighbors were in attendance to pay tribute and respect to the deceased who, during his life, commanded the respect and confidence of all who knew him. Mr. Freeman had for many years been a director of the Louisa County National bank and as a tribute of respect the deceased the bank transacted no business Monday. The remains were taken to the cemetery at Cairo near the deceased's old home.

Besides the wife and two daughters, Mr. Freeman leaves two brothers, one in Pennsylvania and the other in California. He was born in New Jersey in 1836, traveled quite extensively, while a young man, finally settling in Marshall township, this county in 1867. A year or so subsequently he was married to Miss Irene Sellers of the same vicinity. He spent most of his active life in Marshall township where he held the offices of assessor and township trustee for several years. He was a great reader, well informed, a man of generous sympathies, a friend and neighbor, loved and remembered now that he has gone.
