Ptomaine poisoning in a can of pressed chicken eaten at Lettsville on Thursday last, caused the death of Mrs. S. E. Parsons, of Muscatine, last Sunday evening. The entire family of Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver, of Lettsville, where the pressed chicken was eaten, were also made very ill, but are now on a fair way to recovery. Mrs. Parsons with several members of the family, including her age parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver ate from the fatal can at the home of the later on Thursday last. Mrs. Parsons and one of the grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Weaver, who was staying at the house, however, were afflicted the worst.

Mrs. Parson went to the home of her brother, Dr. A. J. Weaver, in Muscatine where in spite of all that medical aid could do she passed away at 6 o'clock Sunday evening. Mrs. Parson was well known in Muscatine, where she conducted dress making parlors. During the last month she has been staying at the home of her parents in Lettsville taking care of them during a period of ill health. As she ate heartily of the chicken where the others ate sparingly she went to her death while the others recovered.

The deceased was aged about 52 years. She is survived by her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver, and two children, Mrs. Stella Bond, of Smalley avenue and Howard Parsons, of Spokene, Washington. She is also survived by four sisters and one brother, Dr. A. J. Weaver, of Muscatine; Mrs. George Stretch and Mrs. Fannie Messick, of Oakey, Kansas; Mrs. Homer Vincent, of Lettsville and Mrs. J. M. Snipe, Chicago. Interment took place in the Lettsville cemetery yesterday.
