Stephen A. Umphrey was born on the farm, on which he died. He was 44 years old and leaves a wife, three children, one brother and one sister. After almost seven weeks of intense suffering, and every thing was done which human hands could do, he passed away Sunday morning. He has been a member of the Presbyterian church since he was fifteen years old. Rev. Scholes, of Winfield, preached the funeral sermon, after which the Masons, of which he was a member, took charge. He was buried at Cairo cemetery. He was a kind husband and citizen and will be missed by everyone.
