Toolesboro - Saturday morning, December 24, our community was saddened by the report that W. C. Smith's father could not live through the day. At nine o'clock that evening, just as others were entering in the full enjoyment of their Christmas festivities, his spirit passed to that great beyond, and a good man had gone to rest. Howard David Smith was seventy years old. He had just been among us since last March but all who knew him had learned to love him. He leaves a devoted wife and four children to mourn his loss: W. C. Smith, of Toolesboro, Howard and Myra, of Houston, Tex., and C., M. Smith of Lincoln, Neb. Rev. J. C. Powelson gave a beautiful sympathetic discourse to the family. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Mallory cemetery.
