Fred H. Brauns was born in Lienen, Germany, in February, 1839 and died July 26, 1904, after a long illness with cancer. His youth was spent in Germany, where he married Miss Wilhelmine Henrietta Schuster. In 1860 they came to America, settling in Muscatine, but shortly afterwards they moved on a farm in Louisa county. Two children were born to them of whom one died in infancy. His son, William, with his mother, survive him. The funeral services were held in the Indian Creek school house yesterday, conducted by Rev. W. C. Schultze. The body was then laid to rest in the Indian Creek cemetery.
