Grandview, May 25 - Last Wednesday morning at the home of his mother occurred the death of Merritt Thompson at the age of 23 years, 6 months and 15 days. Merritt had been in ill health for two years, but his energy and courage kept him at his work until a few weeks ago, when he was compelled to give up and go to Lone Tree. The deceased was born Oct. 3, 1880 and passed away May 16, 1904. During the revival services held at Grandview last winter he was converted and united with the M. E. church of this place. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Thompson. The deceased leaves a mother and two brothers to mourn his loss, his father having died Nov. 14, 1900. The funeral was held at the M. E. church Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. Montgomery. Interment was made in the Grandview cemetery.
