The sudden and unlooked for death of Mrs. Anna Hurley Gauss at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa, on Wednesday of last week, has caused great sorrow among her legion of friends. The death was extremely sad by reason of the three little children left without the tender care of a mother. The deceased was of a sunny disposition, and a pleasant, social nature and she made friends of everybody she came in contact with. The deceased was the daughter of the late Jas. S. Hurly and Mrs. Martha G. Hurley. She was born November 1, 1868, in Wapello. On April 8th, 1891, she was united in marriage to Paul L. Gauss. This union was blessed by the birth of three bright children, Hurly Barbara, now aged twelve years; Raymond Paul, eight years old; and Joseph James, two years.

These with the husband, mother, three sister and one brother are left to mourn her untimely death. The body of the deceased arrived on the early train Friday morning from Shenandoah, accompanied by the husband and children and was met by friends and escorted to the home of her mother. Short funeral services were held the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M. E. Reusch and the remains were consigned to their last resting place in the Wapello cemetery.
