Cairo - The grim monster this time thrust in his sickle and gathered unto himself one of the old pioneers of this section. All knew him as Uncle Benny Marshall. Mr. Marshall was born in Virginia, in 1809, emigrating from there to Ohio, where he was wedded to Caroline Sellers. Being filled with the frontier spirit they emigrated to Iowa at an early date and settled in Marshall township, of this county. in this section he has lived all these years. Tuesday the 29th of September the summons came, and the old dear father was taken home to that dear wife and mother who preceded him many years ago. Six children were born to this amiable couple. But two survive them; Mrs. Henry Allen, of near Winfield, and W. O. Marshall, of Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Marshall until three years ago, was hearty and hale, but from a fall at that time he received injuries which confined him to his bed until his death. Every effort was made to smooth the pathway as he passed down the western slope of time. With wonderful tenacity he clung to life until he had passed the 94th milestone of life. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, conducted by the M. E. Pastor, of Winfield, who delivered a short a very appropriate address. The remains were followed to the cemetery, south of Cairo, by a large number of friends.
