James Peters, who has been a resident of this city the past nine years, departed this life last Saturday morning at the home of his son, Frank. Mr. Peters had been suffering some years with paralysis, which finally ended his life. Deceased was born in Licking county, Ohio, on November 11, 1849 and was aged at the time of his death 62 year, 6 months and 5 days. His wife died in Ohio twenty-five years ago, leaving Mr. Peters with three children, all of whom are now living, Mrs. Ella Shaw, who resides in Finley, Ohio, and Frank and James B., who are residents of this place. Besides the sorrowing children, Mr. Peters leaves to mourn three brothers and a sister, besides numerous other relatives. They are Israel and John Peters, of this county, William of Kansas and a sister in Wisconsin. The funeral services were held from the residence of Frank Peters last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Joseph Hammond. Interment occurred in the Wapello cemetery.
