Mr. John Sprows, of Toolesboro, died last Monday morning at 5:30 o'clock. He was born in Belvidere, Morris county, New Jersey, in the year 1821, and came to Louisa county in 1851. He enlisted in the army early in the war and was honorably discharged on account of disabilities incurred in the discharge of duty. Mr. Sprows had three children, two of whom survive him, and one he will meet in the land of the blest. He was married to Mrs. Pheobe Peckinpah, nee Willetts, on May 4, 1886, who has been a most devoted and loving companion to him.

The family circle left behind to mourn his departure are his dear wife, and Mrs. Mary E. Kimble, of Toolesboro, Mr. Sydney Sprows, of Philadelphia, Pa., and his step sons, Hiram and Homer Matthews, of Toolesboro and Cicero and Oliver Ives, of Wapello. He leaves also a large circle of friends who held him in high esteem. Mr. Sprows was a man of very strong convictions to which he was invariably loyal. The funeral was held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was in charge of A. M. Taylor Post, G. A. R., of this city.
